Characterising driver heterogeneity within stochastic traffic simulation

چکیده
Drivers’ heterogeneity and the broad range of vehicle characteristics on public roads are primarily responsible for stochasticity observed in road traffic dynamics. Understanding behavioural differences drivers (human or automated systems) reproducing behaviours microsimulation has lately attracted significant attention. Calibration car-following model parameters is prevalent way to chracterize different driving behaviours. However, most models do not realistically reproduce free-flow accelerations therefore, usually mainly result over-fitting with limited possibility realistic drivers’ simulation. To solve this problem, present study proposes a novel framework identify individual driver fingerprints based their acceleration them microsimulation. The paper also discusses unsuitability properly characterise alone aggressiveness driver. A large experimental campaign simulation results demonstrate robustness proposed method.

ITE JOURNAL / JULY 2003 INTRODUCTION The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has estimated that driver inattention is a causative factor in 25–30 percent of police-reported traffic crashes in the United States— approximately 1.2 million crashes per year.1,2 An inattentive driver may be distracted temporarily from the driving task by something inside or outside the vehicle, ma...
متن کاملCharacterising Driver Intention via Hierarchical Perception-Action Modelling
We seek a mechanism for the classification of the intentional behaviour of a cognitive agent, specifically a driver, in terms of a psychological Perception-Action (P-A) model, such that the resulting system would be potentially suitable for use in intelligent driver assistance. P-A models of human intentionality assume that a cognitive agent’s perceptual domain is learned in response to the out...
متن کاملA Stochastic Hybrid Model for Air Traffic Control Simulation
A method for modelling the evolution of multiple flights from the point of view of an air traffic controller is developed. The model is multi-agent, hybrid and stochastic. It consists of many instances of flights, each with different aircraft dynamics, flight plan and flight management system. The motions of different flights are coupled through the effect of the wind, which is modelled as a ra...
متن کاملA Compositional Stochastic Model for Real-Time Freeway Traffic Simulation
Traffic flow on freeways is a nonlinear, many-particle phenomenon, with complex interactions between vehicles. This paper presents a stochastic model of freeway traffic at a time scale and of a level of detail suitable for on-line estimation, routing and ramp metering control. The freeway is considered as a network of interconnected components, corresponding to one-way road links consisting of ...
